queen street bistro, organic cappuccino and autobots…

it's so late now. i can't remember staying out this late but with babysitting arranged and a night out with best friends, it's worth the tiredness we'll experience tomorrow morning.

ada had picked out a little restaurant on queen street east… just around the corner from their loft. i had checked out the online menu of joy bistro yesterday and pretty much knew which items to order…

Sea Scallop & Calamari
Citrus Salad

Grilled Vegetable Stack
Goat Cheese & Maple Walnuts
Ontario Asparagus & Sweet Pea Risotto

Sauvignon Blanc
Hillebrand Estates, VQA

everyone enjoyed their meal. i most definitely loved my selection. my very satisfying vegetarian entree was something i had been craving for.

afterwards, we ended up going to see the late show of Transformers because the show we wanted to see towards the west end of downtown was sold out. just as well… we headed back to queen street east and went to an organic coffee shop. i was again reminded that there was so much more in toronto, especially downtown, than starbucks or the other chain places. it was a nice night so we sat out on the patio. and i'm certain, that was the BEST cappuccino i have ever had in my entire life!

we made our way to the theatres by the beaches which was so much better then the old paramount downtown – the paramount by john st. and queen st. use to be my frequent choice for a movie… when i was younger. but now? it just seemed way too big and over-done for me – not fitting to such an intimate night of finding the small gems of the city.

but the movies by the beaches was perfect. it was clean but different from it's competition. the lobby had a lounge that opened up to the patio. they had a live band playing jazz. and while it was busy, it wasn't overly packed like the other places.

Transformers was everything i expected to be! over two ours of one of the best CG work with intense and exciting action scenes i have ever seen! i had thought i would fall asleep because we were watching a 10pm show but there would have been no way to fall asleep during this movie. it was just ridiculously sic! i love movies with good, thick plots and amazing character development. but this was one of those movies where you went just for the FX and action. and while there wasn't a great deal of the type of character development that makes me fall in love with some movies, i knew that the geek-factor of special effects alone would entertain me and keep me on my toes.

though, i had hoped that they would incorporate the original song in some suped up manner…

The Transformers,
More than meets the eye
Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the deceptions
The Transformers
Robots in disguise
The Transformers
More than meets the eye
The Transformers.

the entire night was perfect! but of course, what REALLY made the night was getting together with ada and hoa. we normally see them in a larger group setting and/or with chaeli in tow. so to have them all to ourselves last night with hardly any interruptions was wonderful.
