on david beckham’s underwear

i know this is old news but as usual, it takes me awhile to catch-up.

this commercial – the one where all the women at work have been nagging me to see – the one where david beckham poses in H&M’s underwear – was aired during superbowl. and it was all the talk the next day.

[by the way... i didn't watch much of superbowl. unlike most people in north america, i don't really get football. i tried to catch halftime but only caught the last three minutes. my thought? what a sweet deal. she performs for 7 minutes and gets paid millions.]

so last night, i remembered to pull it up on youtube.

my thoughts?

i don’t like the underwear. at all. and while beckham does have a gorgeous face and beautiful physique, i actually was turned off by the white undies. completely. the only scenes where he looked beautiful to me were the head shots.

oh… and that come-hither-charming look at the very end because the man does have a fabulous smile. i’ll give him that.

i suppose i’m one of the rare few that just didn’t get the hoopla.

faces i want to see more of

i realize that my top ten post and it’s runner up list were very negative in the way of starting 2011 off. so while i sit here having ramen noodles to help comfort this nasty cold i’ve come down with, i’ve decided to compile a top ten list of faces of the media i want to see more of.

this wasn’t an easy list to make. when i first started to think of names, i was coming up with celebrities that are already pretty hot on the media front and really do not need any more attention (even if it’s been well deserved). the purpose of my list are those who i feel need to be more visible in the upcoming decade – some of whom i’m truly hoping for a great come back where they can re-invent themselves for the limelight.

10. Kyle Howard

He had some guest appearances in Friends and was a permanent co-star in My Boys. But the first time I noticed him was in Friends where he played one of Ross’ goofy, surfer-dude-like student. A really, really tiny role – but I noticed him none-the-less. He’s the dorky, goofy but cute type and while I’m not sure if he could ever land a lead role, I’d like to see him in more supportive ones.

9. Mandy Moore

Maybe it’s the mom in me, but while Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera were shaking their pom-poms and leaving little to the imagination, here’s a girl that stood her ground by letting her sweet voice, winning personality and cute looks give some hope as a proper role model for our daughters.

8. Dido

Love her voice and want more of it. She’s definitely not gone from the music industry but I’m hoping for a huge surge as she makes a come-back.

7. Michael Vartan

He always seems to be on the cusp of bigger things. And while I know he’s not the best actor, I still love that boyish smile of his. Funny thing is that I remember him most for this made-for-tv movie where he played Sir Lancelot in Merlin. Not the best production but I found myself swooning for his character.

6. KT Tunstall

I read somewhere where she knew she was never to make it big – at least not for the long run. And it seems that she was fine with that. Well, I’m fine with it too – so long as she keeps on producing that wonderful talent of hers.

5. Katherine Moennig

She was the famous Shane on L Word, which I recently just finished watching its sixth season. I loved the character Shane – and I think the success was owed to Moennig who made the character seem so believable.

4. Rose Rollins

She was also on the L Word as military Tasha. Loved her! And honestly, I can’t believe Cover Girl hasn’t nabbed her yet for her flawless skin and natural beauty.

3. Jackson Rathbone

I know the past decade was all about Edward v.s. Jacob in the whole Twilight hype (which is still ongoing) but my favourite vampire was Jasper Hale. I thought Rathbone did a beautiful job portraying this complex character. In fact, if Stephanie Meyers decides to write more for the Twilight saga, I think Jasper’s history would be a very interesting one to write (though it would be better if it was written by some one with better talent). So while most girls (and women) were swooning over Edward, Jasper caught my attention more and more on the big screen.

2. Gina Gershon

And not Gina Gershon as the sex kitten back in her earlier days of her career. I want to see her in the more down-to-earth roles. She’s got more curves now and her harsher lines have definitely softened. To me, I think she’s more beautiful then ever. Give her more romantic comedy roles!

1. Christina Applegate

She knows how to play that comedic role just so. Even if she never makes it to that big, Oscar leading role, I have been waiting and waiting to see more of her. She needs more romantic comedy roles and by the way, doesn’t she look stunning in green?

random confessions

i suppose i have a narrow mind about people with narrow minds. i guess i can’t help it. but basically, i don’t know how to talk to these people. because they seem to want to argue with me about everything and anything – right down to my personal preference in underwear colour.

——

i have family friends of my parents and some relatives who, whenever they see my parents, give them a present to pass on to chaeli.

my parents then tell me that i have to call so-and-so (and never wait more then 24 hrs) to thank them.

to be honest, i hate doing these calls. because i never asked for theses presents. it’s one thing if it’s around christmas or her birthday, in which i can sit down one afternoon and write out thank-you cards (of which normally never get mailed but hey… it’s the thought that counts, right?) but when it’s multiple times in a year from various people, that’s just a LOT of people to call.

and i’m not a phone-person as it stands.

so this most recent duty-call is for one of my aunts (whom i’m not close to). for the first time, i think i’m going to lie and say that i did call when my parents ask me the next time i see them.

if they find out it’s not true, i’ll either fake a, “really? but i’m sure i called” or a “hmm… i wonder who i was thanking, then?”

think either would work?

——

i use to have a crush on michael damian (from the young and the restless).

i honestly blocked this out of my mind but then i was at the gym, watching the music station and they did this feature on actors/models “moonlighting” as singers.

it was so bizarre. i’m working out, sweating away but every now and then i would look up and think to myself, “hey… isn’t that scarlett johansson? she sings? and why is ron howard in a jamie foxx video? wait… jamie foxx has a video? since when?”

anyway, they showed this early 80′s video and it was michael damian’s song. at first, i couldn’t put my finger on who it was that i was watching until it dawned on me that he was a soap opera actor.

i loved him on y&r and will forever be completely ashamed of this fact.

random confessions

1. whenever possible, i make hobbes poop in the soil. because it’s easier to scoop poop with a bit of soil – almost like a kitty litter. and yes, i was tempted to train him to use a kitty litter – it just makes life easier.

2. to this day, i still eat pie so that i’m left with a bite full or two of just the crust.

3. sometimes, i wish i had the type of body that can wear a sexy, sequined bikini. and if i had that body, would i? probably not. i’m not the sequined type. but it would be nice to have the choice!

4. i actually liked the justin bieber song, “somebody to love” until i realized it was justin bieber. up until then, i thought it was a new female vocalist.

5. my top five might be mainly sexy celebs but i am a huge sucker for the geeky-types.

it must be said again…

i know i only JUST posted this on my top five. and i know that the last three posts have been about my top five.

and yes, i know how truly pathetic i am.

but i can't stop looking at this photo:

if i could blow this up, i would SO hang it on the wall above my head-board!

think doug would mind?

geek or just a fetish?

okay… it just occurred to me after doing my top five that a lot of my crushes are influenced not just by the characters that the actors usually play, but heavily influenced by comic book super heroes.

while i loved robert downey jr., i loved him more after watching iron man. same with ryan reynolds as deadpool. or the fact that i found orland bloom irresistable as an elf. okay – that's not a comic book. but you get the picture.

so it begs to be clarified here… is this just a sign of super-geekiness? or do i have some sort of comic book, perversed fetish going on here?

of course, it's not like i ask doug to dress up as a superhero or anything. if he did, i think i would spend more of my time laughing my ass off rather getting turned on.

so i guess i just answered my own question.

it's just due to my geekiness.

you know, this might sound really bizarre – but what a relief!

bottling wine, robert downy jr. and carnivorous dining

we had ourselves an adult weekend while chaeli stayed at my parents' place.

doug and i ended having a pretty fun-filled packed day on saturday:

  • woke up early and did power90 intervals – was planning on going to a bodyflow class but felt more tired then usual. so i skipped the extra class.

  • grocery shopping on my own – i get it done faster by myself AND we don't buy any more then we need because doug's not there to add to the already planned list (which he planned with me the night before).

  • afternoon appointment to go back to the wine place – bottled 30 pinot noirs and 30 chardonnay's. i worked it out – it only cost us $5.50 a bottle. and it's yummy!

  • took an afternoon snooze – a luxury in itself.

  • doug cooked me this fantstic meal at home – rib grilling steaks, home roasted fries seasond and sprinkled with parmesian cheese and boiled white carrots. we had planned on eating on the patio with candles, but it had rained not too long before – everything was too wet.

  • [insert what parents do when the kid is not around - yes, tmi to explain fully but you get the picture]

  • i asked doug if he wanted to see another movie on demand. so we chose to see the blind side. it was a good movie. i did enjoy it. but… oscar winning for best female actress? really? not to say it was bad acting… but there must have been more well-deserved acting from last year. i suppose the movie was geared towards a more family-oriented audience. it was a feel-good movie. they basically grazed over some of the darker, hardship areas of big mike's past. it was worth the $5.99 – but i'm glad i didn't pay a full movie ticket price for this one.

sexy dream

so last night, i dreamt that i had gotten a part time job – just a couple of nights a week to earn some extra cash.

when i applied, the job description simply stated that it was for a busy, corporate man who required a personal assistant. there was some company name but that's about it.

on the arrival of my first night, i'm greeted by none other then…

ROBERT DOWNEY JR!

well, okay… more like tony stark. the charater he played in iron man. and he actually didn't want me to be his personal assistant. he was looking to create a side kick.

so, he suited me up in a female version of the iron man armour and dragged me along for my very first mission.

i won't bore you with the details of how we fought these flying droids in a huge atrium/lobby within this mansion – which held in it's captivity, 35+ hostages.

to get to the good stuff, tony stark is a player. so of course, he was totally coming on to me.

unfortanately, nothing happened. even in my dreams, i'm a faithful wife. :)
